Having retired from the editorship of Marketing Intelligence & Planning in 2007, and from the Department of Marketing at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow in 2007, I offer you my career experience as a technical copywriter, business journalist, academic author, marketing consultant and academic editor as credentials for ensuring that your manuscripts meet the grammatical and structural requirements of peer-reviewed academic journals. This service can range from simple proofreading through copy-editing to full sub-editing.

My field of specialization throughout my business and academic careers has been marketing communications, especially advertising. Membership of professional bodies, freelance journalism, hands-on market research studies and consultancy projects have kept me in touch with the world of marketing practice. I have qualifications in BSc Earth Sciences, MSc Management, DipCAM (marketing communications), DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française).

My time as editor of Marketing Intelligence & Planning was marked by a determination to maintain the journal's commitment to “provide a forum for the exchange of research findings and theoretical principles between business-school academics and marketing practitioners, and thereby facilitate the translation of conceptual models and marketplace intelligence into firmly grounded and usable marketing plans”. Emerald named me a Leading Editor in 2005, and I am delighted to receive an Outstanding Service Award in 2008.

However, my personal editorial orientations will not lead me to interfere with your own view of your paper’s purpose, or to compromise its appropriateness to the house style and editorial mission of the journal to which it is to be submitted. Authors of sub-edited manuscripts have testified that the results of my interventions are positive:

I am qualified to translate from French, and can also work with Italian originals. Continuing contact with past students and colleagues offers the possibility of translation from Spanish, German, Polish, Greek and Finnish.
