Liquid polybutadiene resins:: Revertex lead in new dimension for surface coatings
Abstract
Lithenes, which are solvent‐free polybutadiene liquids with molecular weights between 500 and 10,000, are the product of research originally carried out by Lithium Corporation of America. Revertex introduced them in the UK in 1971 and as a result of their own extensive polymerisation and application work at Harlow, they soon realised the great potential for these new polymers, which could even give a new dimension in surface coatings, particularly in view of their outstanding corrosion resistance, chemical reactivity and solvent‐free nature. In consequence, Revertex began Lithene production at a purpose‐built plant in Stallingborough. South Humberside, in 1974.
