Abstract

360‐degree feedback is gaining acceptance as a way of supporting development programmes and appraisal schemes. The experience of an engineering company using 360‐degree feedback to help managers and their staff have a more effective appraisal discussion is used to illustrate the caution needed to ensure that the expectations of the organisation are realistic and that the employees’ natural concerns are taken into account.
