Not just housewives and old maids

Abstract

The Romance Fiction Collection in the University of Melbourne Library is the only collection of its kind in an Australian academic library. It includes a representative sample of romance novels from all countries published in English, while concentrating on titles by Australasian authors or set in the Australasian region. Describes the content of the collection, the reasons for its establishment and some special aspects of its housing and bibliographical control. Also suggests some of the uses to which it may be put.
