Abstract

Reviews the approaches to managing Merry Hill Centre, the second largest shopping centre in Europe which presents problems in standards of maintenance and customer comfort, particularly when reducing energy consumption forms part of the management equation. States that a strict regime of monitoring and targeting has shown that exceptionally high standards of maintenance can be achieved, together with energy savings, and all to the benefit of Merry Hill′s 260 retail outlets and 25 million customers.
