Abstract

Summarizes part of the work carried out to date on seeking analytical solutions to the two‐sample problem with censored data in the context of reliability and maintenance optimization applications. For this purpose, reviews non‐parametric two‐sample tests for censored data and details their calculations. The main conclusion suggests that the available alternative calculation approaches for the linear rank order tests are not always equivalent and therefore may not lead to the same test statistic. For identical results three certain assumptions ought to be valid. Highlights these in the form of necessary conditions.
