Waking up to Reality: The Labour Market in Eastern Germany
Abstract
Attempts a stocktaking of the labour market in the collapsing economy of the former GDR, with a brief outline of recent developments. Instead of extensive theorizing, describes and quantifies characteristic features of the Eastern German labour market. Gives critical attention to training and work creation schemes as instruments of active labour market policy.
