Abstract

The demand for powder coatings worldwide has increased from less than 260,000 tons in 1989 to the 1996 level of 450,000 tons, an 8.2 per cent yearly growth. It is predicted that global demand will increase to 785,000 tons by 2000, representing an annual growth of 8.6 per cent over the next few years. Demand should reach 1.46 million tons by 2006 and almost 2.3 million tons by 2011. Over this period of time, the relative importance of the different geographical regions will also shift significantly, the most notable change being the increase in importance of the Far East, mainly at the expense of Europe.
