Abstract

Compares and contrasts the benefits of Web menuing against the merits of OPAC cataloging. Looks at recent electronic developments of OPAC cataloging using web interfacing and the cost implications of cataloging the large volumes of data available. Discusses new metadata formats and offers a succint definition of metadata. Considers the need for national standards in electronic data searching.
