Abstract

Purpose

This paper seeks to see how libraries measure up to futurists' predictions of libraries of the future.

Design/methodology/approach

Compares the ten points in futurist Thomas Frey's paper, “The future of libraries” with the reality of current library services.

Findings

By and large, much of what Frey predicts for future libraries is already a reality.

Originality/value

Confirms that librarians and libraries are at the forefront of technology and providing information through different media and methods.
