Introduction ‐ SCOPE‐RADTEST

Abstract

Introduces a series of reports on environmental research activities being undertaken at the University of Essex, beginning with a summary of the past and present activities undertaken by the SCOPE (Scientific Committee on Problems of the Environment) unit, which was established over a decade ago. To build on the ongoing environmental research at the university an Institute for Environmental Research has recently been established (in 1992) in order to address the growing need for inter‐departmental collaboration. This integrated multidisciplinary approach provides a more realistic representation of the nature of environmental issues.
