Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present some basic theoretical ideas for achieving a more effective materials supply and a summary of the experiences gained from a research study which focused on achieving synchronization between production requirements and materials replenishment from suppliers. Today's markets demand short delivery times and more customized products and hence industry is experiencing increasing pressure to make production more market oriented.
