Abstract

ICL is the wholly‐owned subsidiary of the £2.35 billion (US $4 billion) STC PLC communications and information systems group, centred on the UK within Europe as its home market, but operating in more than 70 countries. In the last few years, ICL has developed from begin a Mainframe Computer business to a full range supplier of information systems for the Corporate, Departmental Office and single user markets. This expansion in product and service range has been extremely rapid and has increased the complexity of the Logistics environment from one which was dominated by internal manufacture to today's situation which requires the integration of products from ICL plants and vendors located in all continents, to meet customers' requirements all over the word.
