Abstract
Purpose
Describes an award‐winning training program that helped to increase innovation at business‐information provider LexisNexis.
Design/methodology/approach
Explains the reasons for the training, how it was developed and delivered and the results it has achieved.
Findings
Details the innovation equation (insight + ideas + impact=innovation) at the heart of the initiative.
Practical implications
Highlights a 290 percent increase in ideas submitted to the LexisNexis innovations database, more than half of which have either been adopted by the company or are under consideration.
Social implications
Reveals how gardening projects played an important role in encouraging employee innovation – and brought lasting benefit to the community.
Originality/value
Provides plenty to interest any organization seeking to increase innovation among its employees.
