Management Development: A Top‐Down Optimal Approach
Abstract
The motivational style of management is described as more effective than the manipulative. A top‐down approach is essential since example is necessary if staff are to give credence to the development training proposed. The managing director must actively participate. An outside stimulus/ facilitator is also essential and guidance is given on the selection of consultants – their personal and professional qualities must be appraised and their results elsewhere must be verified. For serious results a phased structure is recommended.
