Abstract

This article is based on the interim report of a project funded by the Equal Opportunities Unit of the European Commission, entitled: Action Research on Equal Opportunities – Race and Gender: Individual and Corporate Strategies in Educational Institutions. The aim of the project is to draw on the experiences and strategies learned by white women and black and ethnic minority men and women who have achieved senior positions in their institutions. The activities undertaken by September 1990 are detailed: a literature search; constitution of the project team; research methodology; identification of the interview sample; and other data collection from commercial companies and US educational institutions.
