Planning and Monitoring Warehouse Resources

Abstract

Discusses the system introduced by Scottish and Newcastle Breweries plc for planning warehouse manpower, containing details of tasks carried out by employees, methods used, and a standard time for each task. Considers both the system used to gain data and how the data is used to forecast manning requirements and monitor performance. Concludes that the new system provides user‐friendly, sophisticated information to control warehouses, and that the method of calculating standard times is easily updated.
