Abstract

Discusses the booting up process of IBM‐PCs. Considers the function of IO.SYS or IBMBIO.COM in initializing hardware and loading MS‐DOS, and the MS‐DOS file processes that lead to the loading of COMMAND.COM, and the subsequent AUTOEXEC.BAT file search. Suggests ways of altering the COMMAND.COM program to change commands or limit/expand user capability.
