Abstract

Focuses on the need for companies to re‐engineer themselves in order to compete successfully in today’s competitive markets. Explains that in order to get the maximum benefit from automation and IT is essential that company in‐house procedures and practises are changed. Defines the factors that often prevent companies from re‐engineering and the qualities that are needed for it to be applied successfully. Concludes that the philosophy of re‐engineering is very simple: the company that is better than others at its business, with the sole purpose of pleasing its customers—will beat others in the marketplace.
