Ford follows Chrysler in selecting expert equipment for its Mexican vehicle assembly operations

Coventry-based Expert UK Ltd has beaten industrial giants on both sides of the Atlantic to win a second major order to supply precision positioning equipment to one of America's "big tour" vehicle producers in Mexico.
The latest contract - for a seven-station "lift and shift" transfer system to streamline the assembly of Ford Boxline vehicles - follows a breakthrough order worth more than £1 million to equip Chrysler's Mexican vehicle assembly operations earlier in the year.
Designed for a series of semi-automatic and fully robotic welding operations on the rear cab assembly of the new vehicle, the Expert installation is capable of meeting production targets of 60/units per hour. It features a "soft touch" pick-up capability which eliminates the risk of panel damage, and provides smooth acceleration and accurate transfer of assemblies between stations by incorporating the latest version of Expert's proven cam-based drive system.
"The contract extends our track record of supplying sophisticated positioning and assembly line equipment to leading motor manufacturers, both in the UK and world-wide" says Expert UK's General Manager, Angelo Luciano. "It is worth in excess of »200,000 and was again won in the face of fierce international competition."
