Teleservice long range diagnostics for TNC control users

Keyword: Diagnostics

By adopting an Ethernet interface and ISDN routing, Heidenhain TNC 426 B and TNC 430 control systems can now be brought quickly back on line in the event of a problem via a "fast track" diagnostic support capability (see Plate 6).

Such is the flexibility of Heidenhain TeleService that service technicians can access, with permission of the machine user, data within the control system such as part programs, machine parameters, PLC programs, inputs and outputs. The technician can even call up the control screen to see exactly what is being displayed to the operator.

Plate 6Heidenhain TeleService provides "fast track" diagnostic support

To achieve the on-line support, machine tools using Heidenhain controls are interconnected via Ethernet to an ISDN router and the telephone network. At the machine tool supplier's service department a server with ISDN router is installed. Should a problem occur, the machine user simply presses a soft key on the control screen to call the supplier's service department, which allows the technician to go "online" to address the problem.

The same system could also be adapted by the machine user for remote machine monitoring during unmanned production.
