Wizard Information Systems has introduced a new software package which combines USDATA's Xfactory and FactoryLink products into a single integrated bundle. It was created because most companies want to solve issues of plant traceability and control. They see it as a single problem, requiring a single solution. The package is priced aggressively – effectively, "buy Xfactory and get FactoryLink free".

The new package is said to offer flexibility and agility. It is flexible in that changes can be made "on-the-fly" to the manufacturing process model, to add new products and equipment into the system; agile in that it is possible to respond quickly and easily to plant and process changes, customer demands, supplier changes, etc.

It also provides excellent supply-chain visibility and trackability. USDATA is now able to supply throughout Europe the latest version of its production tracking solution Xfactory. This advanced software allows users to easily build, deploy and maintain product tracking and execution applications. Designated version 1.4, it provides manufacturers of all sizes with the ability to track and improve production processes "on the fly" and has been especially designed to deliver unparalleled performance and reliability for even the most demanding, large-scale production processes.

Ken McDougall, USDATA's European marketing director, explained:

In the past, large manufacturers with rapid-paced production have had limited options for tracking and monitoring their processes. Many have had to resort to custom in-house solutions in order to find a system that can keep up with their through-put.

Often this has led to inflexible designs, which prevent continuous improvement and represent significant costs for IT maintenance and enhancements. Now, with the release of Xfactory 1.4, large manufacturers can track even the most demanding processes in real-time, while gaining the agility to modify their systems without disruption of their production.

Version 1.4 builds on Xfactory's reputation of leveraging the latest advances in distributed application design, object programming and distributed systems. Built entirely upon standard Microsoft Windows DNA 2000 technologies, Wizard are confident that large corporations will find that the system integrates seamlessly with their existing systems and represents a highly scalable commercial solution.

Xfactory 1.4 uses Microsoft's latest object technologies, enabling limitless load balancing and distribution of processing power. This attribute enables large manufacturers to simply add new hardware in order to increase the overall system's processing power when new manufacturing lines are added.
