Modular Automation from Birmingham (see Plate 1) has signed to become the preferred supplier of automation equipment for Adept Technology Inc., one of the USA’s leading suppliers of automation for the fibre optic, telecommunications and semiconductor industries.
Modular Automation has a proven record as a systems integrator and has the network to operate globally. As an Adept Preferred Photonics Partner the company will be responsible for developing bespoke photonics manufacturing systems based on Adept automation products. The systems will focus on fibre preparation and handling applications. They will be based on Adept’s NanoBonder, NanoStage and NanoCell photonics automation tools.

Charlie Duncheon, vice president of business development for Adept Technology is very excited about the new partnership. “Modular’s reputation for leading edge development, quality and reliability, matched with Adept’s technological developments make for the best, full custom solution in the marketplace”, he said.
Trevor Dixon, Modular’s technical director was equally looking forward to strengthening the relationship with Adept in the photonics industry. “We’ve done significant work in photonics and our customers are demanding the kind of photonics automation products that Adept is delivering to the market”, he explained.
