In GB Patent 2311950, Shinsozaihanbai Kabushiki Kaisha describes a clad steel plate. It comprises a base material which has holes with rising rims. The rims pass through a covering material and expand over its surface to unite the base and covering materials. An organic/inorganic cloth, paper or film may be placed between the base and covering materials which are then passed between rollers to unite them. The base material may be steel which has been nitrided by embedding in calcium cyanamide in a furnace into which ammonia or a mixture of ammonia and nitrogen is introduced. Increased resistance to corrosion is an advantage of the process.
