With 30 years in the manufacture and marketing of polyamide powders for coatings, Elf Atochem has reinforced its technical means of customer assistance by setting up a pilot plant at its Centre of Research and Development (CERDATO), situated in Serquigny.

This plant has been designed to reproduce fluidised bed coating techniques on a limited production line basis. The results of these tests are carefully studied in order to determine, for a given customer, the optimum parameters which can be directly applied. Thus, while avoiding any temporary stoppages in the production line - always detrimental to productivity - customers can be advised on the best conditions of implementation according to the applications involved, and on the evolution if not improvement of their equipment.

The setting up of this pilot plant is the culmination of long years of experience in fluidisation, and of participation in the development and construction of the main fluidisation production lines in the world. This experience has resulted in an extensive range of Rilsan® polyamides for coatings in numerous areas. The most important, and the impetus behind the creation of this plant, is that of household appliances (dishwasher racks). Other areas such as the water industry (pipes, joints, valves), transport and particularly the automobile industry are directly involved, as well as more specific markets such as supermarket trolleys and metal furniture.
