When the State of Montana Highway Department needed a solution to a corrosion problem inside the ten-thousand-gallon tanks that store road salt, they turned to Industrial Coatings, Inc., an authorized Perma-Tech Industrial Coatings contractor in Great Falls, Montana, USA. Industrial Coatings, Inc. recommended Perma-Tech polyurea UX-390 in combination with Perma-Tech primer PR-704 for this tough coatings problem. The combination reportedly creates a permanent, corrosion-resistant seal over steel or concrete.

With its gel time claim of less than ten seconds and a tack-free cure time less than five minutes, the coatings experts at Industrial Coatings, Inc. were positive that UX-390 would perform under the adverse environmental conditions that might be found inside steel tanks on a frigid Montana day. Plus, the product can be applied at below-zero temperatures without negatively affecting its properties or adhesion.

The Montana Highway Department reports that it was confident that Industrial Coatings, Inc. could deliver consistent quality at three separate locations with the Perma-Tech self-contained, trailer-based spray system. This novel trailer contains all of the equipment and materials needed to spray the full line of Perma-Tech industrial coatings. The trailer-based system gives Perma-Tech contractors like Industrial Coatings, Inc. quality control and total flexibility in reaching any job site. From the Highway Department's perspective, Industrial Coatings, Inc. also offered the advantage of "one-stop shopping". Their facilities manager had to deal with only one contractor who could spec the job and provide the material, travel to three different locations with all the equipment to complete the project. After the job, there was only one contact point in case of any questions or problems, a big advantage, according to the state.

Industrial Coatings, Inc. sprayed a total of six tanks in Helena, Butte and Bosman, Montana. Finished product thickness was 50 to 60 mils, and expected lifespan for the coating is at least 20 years.
