Galvanizers Association chairman

Keywords: Galvanizers Association, UK

The UK's Galvanizers Association (GA) has appointed Stephen Rankin, as its new chairman. He was appointed to the position at the Association's recent Annual General Meeting held at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London.

Commenting on his appointment Stephen said; "The turnover of the hot dip galvanizing industry in the UK is over 200 million. We supply a broad range of products across many industrial sectors including construction materials for high profile structures like the Eden project.

"This is a particularly exciting time to be taking on the role of chairman. Our recent 'Zinc Millennium Map' project demonstrates that zinc coatings are now lasting longer than ever. The reduction in atmospheric pollutants over the last decade has significantly impacted on the lifespan users can expect from hot dip galvanizing. The fact that a fifty-year life is now easily achievable will be at the forefront of our new marketing."

With 22 years experience in the galvanizing industry and currently managing director of Metnor Group plc in Tyne and Wear, Stephen takes over as chairman of GA from Dr Fred Shallcross, who stands down after a two-year term of office.
