Chemically inert bottle caps for laboratory instrumentation

Keywords: Tubing, Instrumentation

Omnifit's chemically inert bottle caps are suitable for many applications within the laboratory, such as connecting tubing to inert fluidic systems, solvent reservoirs or waste bottles. Manufactured from PTFE, their inertness also makes them ideal for use with aggressive clean in place (CIP) solutions (Plate 2).

Available in standards GL45 and GL32 thread sizes, with other sizes available on request, the bottle caps come in three basic designs, depending on requirements.

A "dual-connection" design is ideal for applications requiring a variety of tubing and/or sizes to be connected to a single cap. It has a colour-coded cap connector system to help identify tubing. A "no-twist" design has a central PTFE block into which tubing lines are connected. This block can rotate independently of the cap, allowing the cap to be screwed onto a bottle without twisting the tube lines. The third option, a "low profile" design, is supplied, fitted with 1 m length of PTFE tubing, already connected to the cap. This means a lower profile cap can be used, making it ideal when space is limited.
