Ian Huggins takes over at Parker Instrumentation

Ian Huggins has been appointed General Manager of Parker Hannifin's Instrumentation Products Division, the European leader in instrumentation tube fittings, valves and manifolds. After 14 years with Parker in logistics and financial management roles, Ian now takes over responsibility for a division serving international oil, gas, petrochemical, processing and utility markets.

Ian's appointment follows the promotion of David Bailey to General Manager of Parker Hannifin's Filter Division Europe in Dewsbury (UK), after 6 years in charge at Barnstaple.

“Ian has been part of the senior management team at Barnstaple for many years and brings a vast amount of experience and know-how to his new role”, says David Bailey. “Parker Instrumentation is in a period of strong growth as a result of the initiatives this management team has put in place, and I am confident that this trend will continue under his leadership.”

The division operates from its ISO9001- registered design and manufacturing centre in Barnstaple, UK, and through some 300 Parker sales centres and distributor locations worldwide. The Barnstaple plant is a benchmark facility in Europe for the company's parent, the $6 billion- sales Parker Hannifin corporation, and has been the subject of substantial investment in recent years. In particular, the company has recently released a much-extended range of manifolds, and is currently enjoying strong sales growth – largely through its ability to offer customers comprehensive instrumentation packages.

“Our investments are delivering new opportunities for us, particularly in the realm of large-scale engineering projects such as oil platforms, pipelines, and new processing plants, and we are now the sole or leading instrumentation component supplier for a large proportion of our customer base”, notes Ian Huggins. “This influential position is helping us to drive instrumentation design – and I want us to exploit that position to the full, with innovations in key component areas such as manifolds and process analytics.”

Parker Instrumentation provides tube fittings, valves, manifolds and enclosures for process and plant instrumentation in sectors including oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, alternate fuels, pulp and paper, and analytical/high purity. We offer our own-design products, as well as those from sister divisions IVD (valves), ICD (fluid connectors), UHP (semiconductor products) and Veriflo (regulators, valves, transducers). Parker Instrumentation has its European HQ in Barnstaple (UK), and serves customers throughout Europe, the Middle East and the CIS; www.parker.com/ipd. The organization is a division of Parker Hannifin, worldwide leader in motion, control and critical flow components and systems for instrumentation, industrial and aerospace markets.
