US Navy Combat Edge Programme

Carleton Technologies Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cobham plc, has been awarded a multi-year production contract for the CRU-103/P Oxygen Regulator in support of the Navy Combat Edge Program. The CRU-103/P regulator is part of a system which provides enhanced "g" protection to the pilots of the highly agile F-18 aircraft. The chest mounted CRU-103/P, in addition to supplying breathing oxygen to the aircrew, pressurises a counter-pressure garment around the crew's chest in proportion to the "g" load being experienced by the aircraft. This enables the crew to perform effective manoeuvring and delay the onset of G-induced loss of consciousness (G-LOC).

The CRU-103/P regulator was designed and developed by Carleton under a prior development contract and the production contract was awarded after a full and open competition. The total contract value for this is $2 million.

Carleton Technologies has also been awarded a multi-year production contract for the Pneumatic Accumulator in support of the Hellfire II/Longbow missile programme. This gas storage and regulator assembly provides an energy source to enable fin actuation on the missile.
