Surrey-based design engineers Anvil Innovations Limited, reports that it has just secured a major design contract with BAe Systems (formerly British Aerospace).

This prestigious contract win sees Anvil designing the acoustically lined stub intake fitted inside the wing of the Nimrod 4 aircraft.

Anvil has a reputation for handling novel and innovative projects operating within the aerospace and general engineering industries. The company also has extensive capabilities in designing composite structures.

Peter Frewer, Anvil's managing director comments: "To work alongside a company as prestigious and innovative as BAe Systems is extremely exciting. Through our work with other major manufacturers such as Rolls-Royce Aero Engines, we know that we possess the necessary specialist skills and expertise to enhance existing aircraft performance. We are looking forward to working alongside BAe Systems and the challenge this project will provide (Plate 6).

Anvil is a key player operating within a demanding marketplace where competition is extensive. Alongside Rolls-Royce plc, previously secured contract wins include DERA and GEC Marconi.

Anvil will commence BAe Systems contract work with immediate effect, working to a March 2001 production deadline.
