Because it is so inherently stable, PTFE is widely used in hostile environments for cable marker and sleeve applications but over-printing identification on this surface has always proved difficult.

Siegrist-Orel reports that it has pioneered work in this field and claims to be one of the first companies in the world able to print PTFE cable identification without need for chemically surface etching – which is a messy, unpleasant and environmentally damaging process.

In order to avoid the major disadvantages of chemical stripping to provide a key for the ink, Siegrist has developed special ink formulations and processing techniques exclusive to the Broadstairs-based company. These provide an environmentally friendly, though technically complex method of achieving superb and permanent print adhesion and legibility standards essential in critical cable identification applications.

For maximum visual impact, Siegrist offers custom-made PTFE identification systems overprinted in black or white.
