Looking ahead to the fifth year of the Baltic Journal of Management (BJM) our Editorial team feels that BJM has become a part of the international academic community exceeding merely the Baltic states, Central and Eastern Europe and Europe. Besides, Europe, the membership of the BJM community reaches the USA, Canada as well as China and India. At the heart of the BJM is research on different management issues that contribute to business and organisational development topics. “East learns from West” and vice versa as it is stated in BJM’s mission. I am extremely happy that our BJM community is growing with each issue. Those that become our authors and readers as well as reviewers remain with us and some of them join common research projects or other development activities. The mutual relations become stronger and the number of new research ideas as well as research quality increases.

In this issue, we present seven papers that come from the USA, China, UK, Estonia, Finland, and Lithuania. This issue presents several topics: cross-cultural analysis of customer service in Austria, The Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Slovakia, and Slovenia; corporate social responsibility in relation to consumers’ responses; prevalence of envelope wages in the Baltic Sea region; two papers on organisational change presenting findings on Finland as well as Estonian cases and finally the last paper provides insights on research management reform in Lithuania.

Looking to the coming years, apart from the regular issues of the journal – we have three special issues planned and one currently open from the past. We encourage all to contribute to:

    Innovation in Services: Manifestations and Consequences with Guest Editors Professor Maaja Vadi (Tartu University, Estonia) and Rebekka Vedina (Tartu University, Estonia).

    Dynamic Knowledge Creation and Transfer with Guest Editors Professor Rolv Petter Amdam (BI Norwegian School of Management, Norway), Professor Randi Lunnan, BI Norwegian School of Management, Norway), Dr Jon Erland Lervik, BI Norwegian School of Management, Norway).
