Corrosion-resistant warning devices for hazardous areas

For use in harsh environmental conditions with potentially explosive atmospheres, Klaxon Signals has introduced a new range of corrosion resistant sounders and warning beacons and an explosion-proof alarm bell.

Manufactured from UV-stable GRP (glass reinforced plastic), the sounders and beacons are lightweight and corrosion resistant, with IP ratings of 66 and 67 to cope with the harsh conditions found in the offshore and onshore oil, gas and petrochemical industries. They are also suitable for other sectors such as bulk handling, power generation, mining and quarrying. Certified to EExd IIC T4 for use in Zone 1 hazardous areas, they are BASEEFA approved and meet CENELEC Standard 5001 4/18. The alarm bell, which is manufactured from cast iron and finished in epoxy paint, is certified to EExd IIB T5 and BASEEFA approved.

The sounder has a maximum sound output of 115dB and a choice of 27 different tones. In addition, its GRP corrosion-proof flame-path eliminates the need for regular inspections, providing considerable savings in both time and labour. Both the sounder and the beacon are supplied with stainless steel mounting brackets and screws, ensuring total, corrosion-resistance. All three units come with two 20mm cable entries, making them suitable for use within loop systems.
