This volume will be released in 2001 and as yet I cannot advise of the price.

This text is a much upgraded and updated version of previous editions which adds much to its content.

The content reviews the role of engineers and engineering in everyday life and highlights those areas that are prone to error and analyses how those errors occur, and critically, how these events can be avoided.

There are 28 chapters ranging from accident losses to management and their responsibilities, to hazards and their control, to appraising plant safety, and planning for emergencies. The latter topic will be especially of interest to subscribers as it treats the topic from an entirely different point of view.

Many of the topics, similar to the previous review above, are essential knowledge for emergency planners and disaster managers.

A well‐written and constructed text which is easy to digest due to the completeness of the individual chapters.
