Abstract

This article arises from the author's experience of consulting with business partnerships and is an attempt to describe some of the most important considerations in such consultancy for both consultants and clients. Many consultancy contracts in this area tend to be open and ongoing in nature, and consultants will probably find that they are dealing with fundamental aspects and issues of management relationships — values, ethos and climate — from an early stage in their relationships with the client. Much of the work involved will be of a personal and intimate nature and a good deal of personal counselling will be required, as well as skill in company problem solving.
