Development Training Using the Outdoors —: A Pilot Programme
Abstract
The idea that there is more to leadership than just teaching people what to do, that different styles suit different situations and personalities, that training can develop people's leadership and group membership skills, has received widespread acceptance amongst managers and professional trainers. There also seems to be agreement about the best way to proceed with developing these areas of interpersonal competence, for at the core of most training programmes is a series of class based exercises. These variously enable participants to experiment with their behaviour, to practise new skills and to receive feedback on their performance.
