Innovation and Positive Action in Management Education

Virginia Hayden (Partner in the consultancy, Information Audit, and her work covers such areas as publishing, information, career management, and women's management development. She teaches marketing to business women at ICOM Women's Link Up in Leeds and has recently completed the MA course in Applied Women's Studies at Bradford University. As an information scientist she is a writer and editor and has carried out market research in aspects of information technology. At IMCB she is Industrial Fellow in Information Science, teaching on the MBA and other management development programmes. She also runs a home with two teenage children.)
Wilf Knowles (Assistant Chief Executive at the Equal Opportunities Commission. He was the co‐author of the Great Britain chapter in Working Women: An International Survey and has advised a range of organizations on the development and implementation of programmes of positive action. Wilf sits on the Board of Trustees of the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology ‘Women at Work’ Unit and is a member of the Engineering Council Working Party on managing the career break)

Abstract

The International Management Centre from Buckingham is a postgraduate‐level business school, which works with managers in organizations world‐wide. The faculty includes full‐time professors formerly with other top business schools, visiting business‐school professors, and working managers, active in industry, commerce, and government. The client list of MBA programme organizational sponsors includes International Distillers and Vintners, Seagram, British Rail, Mobil, Pitney Bowes, Phillips Petroleum, Thomas Cook, Dunlop, Siemens, and Dupont.
