Women's Work Motivations & Positive Action
Abstract
Why are more and more women entering the employment market and remaining in it when they have children, and what can their employers do to help? Evelyne Serdjénian first looked into these questions ten years ago in a study of 3500 women in IBM France, which she edited, called Femmes 76. Here she reports the study's findings on women's work motivations and work dissatisfactions and goes on to consider the opportunities and limitations of equality at work and the conditions required for implementing affirmative action programmes.
