What do I want to do?
Abstract
When my daughter reached ‘O’ levels, she had no idea about her future career. As sixth‐form subject choices loomed, I challenged her into vocational guidance. “I'll go with you,” I dared “If you go, I'll go”. We both did, and it changed my life. I went back to school, only to find my middle‐aged self, five years on, holding a bright, shiny psychology degree but without a single work offer in sight. So much for advice, I complained bitterly—now what do I do?
