Abstract

The electrochemical behaviour of Co has been studied in methanol, ethanol and acetonitrile using 1M HCl and 0.1M NaClO4 as electrolytes containing different amounts of H2O under deaerated conditions using the potentiostatic technique. The rate of dissolution of Co increases in all organic solvents as water content increases. Acetonitrile was shown to be more reactive in 0.1M NaCIO4 than in 1M HCl. All solvents behave as an interface inhibitor.
