Abstract

A sample survey was carried out by the Institute of Internal Auditors‐UK in 1985, to update information and identify trends. Main findings are presented, then analysed and compared with previous national and international surveys. The evidence highlights the major expansion which has taken place in the provision, range and development of audit services and the important gains in management recognition.
