CORROSION COMMENTARY

Abstract

NEW methods of application mean new types of contact; not surprisingly, new problems of corrosion are created. This has happened with the much‐increased use of aircraft for spreading agricultural chemicals. In a few years the tonnage of fertilisers applied from the air to New Zealand grassland has risen from 5,000 to a quarter of a million tons; in the United States, aircraft broadcasting and spraying has developed more steadily and more widely, but the total tonnage involved must be very substantial.
