Abstract

U.S.A. Apparatus for visual study of corrosion by hot water. A windowed autoclave was designed for visually studying the reaction of a corrosion specimen in hot water. Several features of the device used were unique. One advantage was that the upper temperature was only limited by stresses in the pressure vessel, rather than by corrosive attack on the glass windows. Another was that hot water could be made to contact the specimen suddenly, thus providing a better test than in the case where a specimen is subject to attack during the time the system is being heated and pressurised.
