Plastics: Meeting Sponsored by The Plastics Institute
Abstract
Since the technical meetings were open to all visitors without registration, the meetings in the main were very well attended. At the Plastics Institute meeting K. V. Pepper, speaking on ‘Plastics’ Part in the Corrosion Battle’, made a plea for considering less the cost per foot run and the price per square yard, but rather the installed cost, the freedom from maintenance and the avoidance of lost production time. He referred to pipes and particularly unplasticised PVC pipes which, although relatively new to the U.K., had established in other countries a predictable pattern of behaviour over 25 years. Many thousands of feet of PVC pipe had been laid for the distribution of town gas.
