THE FEDS AND THE FATE OF LIBRARIES

Abstract

During the past year—while on leave from Rutgers University and working in the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Educational Research and Improvement (OEFI)/Library Programs—I had a multitude of opportunities to observe the fate of the country's libraries in the federal hierarchy.
