The Strategic Side of Dividends
Abstract
The decision as to how much cash to invest in the business and how much to pay out in dividends is a fundamental element of corporate strategy. Commonly, however, these decisions are made with little thought about their strategic implications. Myth, custom, and the imagined perception of others frequently overshadow sound economics in determining dividend policy.
