Abstract

The reader can be forgiven for thinking that everything has by now been said — and not least in this journal — on the phasing out of lead‐based paints which have been part of the staple diet of countless generations of children, mainly because of its sweet taste. We are prompted to venture into print once more on this subject by a recent news release from Battelle's Columbus, Ohio, Laboratories giving details of an 11‐month $81,000 study they are currently carrying out on the feasibility of applying a shrink‐wrap plastic film to door frames and other hard‐to‐get‐at areas formerly coated with lead‐based paints, in older homes.
