Fire hazards of polymers used in conduit and cable systems
Abstract
The outstanding memory of the Falklands War will undoubtedly be the devastation caused by fire on Royal Navy ships, with its tragic loss of life as well as five ships. The intensity of the fires seemed to surprise many observers, and in all cases the fires were rapidly fed and sometimes spread by polymer materials from adjacent conduit and cable systems, bunk coverings, bulkhead coverings, and the like.
