Fibre optics and NIR combine for in‐line analysis
Abstract
For many process industries, online analysis has long been seen to possess many benefits. However, until quite recently the parameters which could be measured online were generally restricted to those of a physical nature, such as temperature and pressure, etc. True compositional analysis of macro‐chemical components, the ultimate goal, could not be readily achieved using the widely accepted technique of gas chromatography. This situation is now changing as a result of Bran + Luebbe's efforts in successfully bringing together near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and fibre optics in the InfraPrime system.
